CHED SAFE team, under the supervision of Dr. Gella Patria Abella, conducted a seminar on biodiversity conservation and phytoremediation technology on June 27, 2022 at Maria Aurora, Aurora in partnership with the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) Nueva Ecija-Aurora Chapter, represented by Mr. Jovenal Namoro.
As part of the celebration of the World Environment Month with the theme: “Only One Earth”, Local Government Unit (LGU) officials, farmers, barangay officials and members of Head, Heart, Hands, And Health (4H) club were among the forty-five (45) participants who attended the seminar.
Furthermore, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were also distributed for them to better understand the phytoremediation technology and the conservation of our biodiversity.

The project research team Ms. Mary Angella Tolentino and Mr. Carl Dionelle Ponce conducted an exclusive educational tour and benchmarking of the museum at the UP Marine Science Institute last May 20, 2022, headed by Dr. Wilfred John E. Santianez Assistant Professor and Collections Manager at G.T Velasquez Phycological Herbarium with the help of his researchers Mr. John Micheal Lastimoso, Ms. Steffi Arcela and Ms. Helen Dayao.
Mr. Lastimoso accommodated the project research staff in the educational tour that provided significant knowledge and information regarding how the specimens were being handled from the site of collection to the laboratory for further assessment and utilization. Moreover, it was also discussed by Mr. Lastimoso how the samples were being utilized, it also conversed how the identification of species was carried out.
Ms. Arcela demonstrated the proper protocol on how specimens were being preserved thru the process of herbarium hence it can be utilized subsequent to the day of conservation, this process is vital to ensure precise results. Meanwhile, Ms. Dayao walked through the research team in the laboratory to exhibit how the live specimens were being cultured to reproduce and to the fish museum to show and demonstrate the proper preservation of wet specimens.
The project research staff were gratified and invigorated learning this knowledge.

The project research staff, Ms. Mary Angella Tolentino and Mr. Carl Dionelle Ponce, were warmly welcomed by Ms. Maita Oebanda, focal person of the UST Museum.
Ms. Oebanda, Collection Management, and Documentation Assistant provided in-depth knowledge and history of the collected specimens in the exhibit. UST Museum has an extensive array of collections that showcase remarkable figures of specimens, artifacts, and paintings that are antecedents to today's culture.
Further, the Project Research Staff were privileged to have an open discussion with Ar. John Carlo Sayco, UST Museum Assistant Director, regarding the future interconnection and collaboration between the ICCEM Museum and UST Museum.
