October is Museums and Galleries Month!
History should not repeat itself and should always be remembered. Museums and galleries serve as the home of memories that will narrate stories and events from the past. They are a dedicated space for the works of many artists, inventions of our scientists, discoveries and findings of archeologists, and specimens such as fossils and artifacts from antiquity.
In our country, the University of Santo Tomas Museum was considered the oldest existing museum in the Philippines, was formally established in 1869, to comply with the 1865 Reglamento de Segunda Ensenanza that required all first-class colleges to have a Museo de Historia Natural. Initially located in Intramuros, the UST Museum was later transferred to its present site at the paraninfo of the UST Main Building, built in 1928 in the Sampaloc district of Manila.
Moreover, The Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) of Central Luzon State University also has a museum. A natural history and biodiversity museum dedicated to different ecosystems in the Philippines. In celebration of #MGM2022, the institute will re-launch the newly renovated The ICCEM Museum (TIM) in the 4th quarter of 2022.
This year' #MGM2022 theme "Embracing Uncertainty: Showcasing Solidarity, Hope, and Recovery" honors the resilience and resourcefulness of the Filipino in overcoming the global pandemic as it moves forward to a new normal.

ICCEM workforce takes part in the movement for a cleaner planet today, September 30, 2022.
Faculty and staff join forces in clearing up the ICCEM Conservation Park, BINHI Conservation Park, and other facilities in the office in celebration of the World Cleanup Day.
Each year the World Cleanup Day unifies millions of people from different walks of life. Volunteers, organizations, and governments from across 191 countries in the world work hand in hand through cleanup drives, in order to address waste problem, to achieve a sustainable world. With this endeavor, ICCEM invites everyone to join with the movement every year so that each of us can contribute to a cleaner planet. Let us make a move today, pick up a trash on your way!

Project SAFE team pays courtesy call in the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of San Miguel, Bulacan on August 22-23, 2022.
Mr. Glenn Mark Ortiz, Municipal Agriculturist, recommended a list of barangays to visit, and assisted the team in the coordination of activities.
Engr. William Santos, MENR Officer, also expressed that the reading materials on biodiversity conservation, Phytoremediation technology, and LiDAR technology produced by Project SAFE, will be helpful in their office.
The team aims to visit the designated barangays this week.#

Mr. Carl Dionelle Ponce and Ms. Kimberly Joy Mata requested the approval of Malolos City LGU on August 23, 2022, for the commencement of IEC materials distribution and evaluation.
Despite the earlier suspension of work due to Typhoon Florita, Hon. Atty. Christian Natividad, Malolos City Mayor, personally attended to the team's request to discuss the conduct of activities in the city. After a conversation about the program, Atty. Natividad immediately endorsed the team to the City Administrator Office (CAO) and City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
Mr. Joel Eugenio, City Administrator, asked for more specific details on the request and suggested barangays afterwards. Mr. Amiel Cruz, OIC-CENRO, also recommended barangays and finalized the team's list. Furthermore, Mr. Cruz assured the team that he will coordinate the upcoming activities with the designated barangays.
Meanwhile, Atty. Natividad made sure that the team will be accommodated as the activities will be beneficial to the city.#

On August 11-12, and 16-19, 2022, Project SAFE staff, Mr. Carl Dionelle Ponce and Ms. Kimberly Joy Mata, visited 12 Schools Division Offices (SDO) in Region III to request approval for the distribution and evaluation of reading materials in selected schools of Central Luzon.
Among the 12 SDOs, four offices (Meycauayan City, Balanga City, Tarlac City, and Tarlac) have already approved the team's activities which will kick off on August 22, 2022, onwards.
Dr. Ramilo C. Cruz, Education Program Supervisor - EPP/TVL/TLE/ICT, and Mr. Vic Romar M. Mercurio, DRRM Project Development Officer II of SDO Meycauayan City expressed their support in the project's endeavor and provided assistance to the group. SDO Meycauayan City will also coordinate the activities to the selected elementary and secondary schools that the office recommended to the team.
Aside from the coordination of upcoming activities, the team is also preparing for the commencement of IEC distribution and evaluation in the Bulacan province next week.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mata and Mr. Ponce are in continuous communication with the SDOs which have yet to indorse the activities.#
